We are thrilled to welcome Coach Parks back as our Head Coach!
My name is Larry Parks, or Coach Parks. I moved to the Atlanta Metro area from Michigan in 1992. My educational and work background is in Behavioral Science and I also have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). I am married and we have two kids, a son and a daughter, both of whom are in college. My son, a sophomore at the University of Missouri – St Louis currently swims on their NCAA D2 swim team and is a former member of the Country Walk Torpedos. I swam for four years in high school and was also the team captain. I began my coaching career as the Assistant coach with the OakAmber Dolphins summer swim team in 2017 and as head coach in 2018-2019 seasons. I have served as the Assistant Coach for the Country Walk Torpedoes summer swim team for the 2022-2024 seasons. I have the pleasure of being the Head Coach of the Northwest YMCA Wahoos and we just completed our season with a First Place Win as the Small Team Champions at the 2024-2025 Metro Atlanta YMCA Championship Meet. I will be implementing new training techniques for our swimmers this season. As I always say, “What you do in practice, is what you will do at the meet”. I am looking forward to meeting all the swimmers this season and excited to have the opportunity to serve as the Head Coach for the Country Walk Torpedoes.
My name is Morgan Jones, and I’m a recent graduate from Kennesaw State University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. I’ve been passionate about swimming for many years, starting my journey with Lightning Strike Swim Team at Echo Mill and continuing with Stingrays, Tidal Waves, and the City of Atlanta Dolphins. I swam competitively throughout high school at Hillgrove High, where I competed at both county and state levels. In 2020, I helped my team set a new school record in the 200 free relay. For the past eight years, I’ve worked at West Cobb Aquatic Center as a lifeguard and swim instructor, teaching both children and adults in the Cobb County area. I’ve helped swimmers of all ages, from those learning to feel comfortable in the water to kids preparing for summer and year-round swim teams. I love watching my students progress and develop confidence in the water. This season, I’m excited to take on a new role as one of the assistant coaches and continue making a positive impact on young swimmers!
